Winter’s Coming To Cape Town
But The Son Is Warming Pollsmoor!
After yet another long (Bank) holiday weekend, having spent four lovely relaxing days out of Cape Town, its back to prison, dressing a lot warmer now winter is well on the way!
On Tuesday I took ELTON, RODWELL and DONOVAN from the hospital back to C section to show the final episode of ’Left Behind’. This time we had the opportunity to talk with the guys afterwards. Most of them are in prison gangs and Elton was able to share his testimony. Having been a prison gangster himself he is living proof that one can get out of the ’number’ alive and well, serving the Lord.
On Wednesday I took some of the believers from B2 to F3. What a great morning! Here are some of the testimonies that were shared:
WAYNE from F3 was a believer outside, but was backslidden when he came into prison. The Brothers in F3 have encouraged him and he is back on track.
JEROME from B2 was in one of the major gangs in Cape Town. He came into B2 and gave his life to the Lord a month ago. ’Never to turn back to the old life’ he says.
MARCO (B2) came to prison and was put into B4. He noticed one day as he was standing at the grill outside B2 that ’the guys in that room seemed different and friendly’. He moved in and got saved!
SIYABONGA (B2) was a prison gangster - addicted to drugs, but made a decision for Christ and is now one of the leaders in the room.
EDMUND (the other leader in B2) came into prison and went to F3 where he met RICARDO JONES who was then ’pastor’ of the room. Ricardo had a major influence on Edmund and he met the Lord there. He then transferred to B2 and is a great encouragement to the guys in that room.
VERNON (F3) said ’I was in the prison hospital and I almost died. It was there that I made a decision to change my life’. He then moved to F3 when he was released from the hospital. These are just a few of the testimonies that were shared. The Lord’s name was lifted up and there was much thanksgiving for what He has done in their lives. An encouraging morning indeed!
Sybil has started guitar lessons at the hospital and she says the pupils are very eager to learn. I went down today to see how they were doing and they were very proud that they could play me five chords they had learned (just in one morning).
GERSHWIN phoned us to say that his sister’s 3 month old baby died on Monday and would appreciate prayers for her (Janine) and the family.
